Most of your time playing Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity will be spent in vast dungeons full of Pokémon! The dungeons can be dangerous, but there are many rewards that await those who explore their depths. If you can get all the way through a dungeon, great rewards may be yours. But if you get knocked out, you may have to return all the way to the entrance of the dungeon and lose some of your items and money, too!
- Each level of every dungeon is randomly generated.
- The Pokémon you'll encounter in a particular dungeon will remain the same on each trip.
- Even environmental areas such as lakes will be in new places on each visit.
- Stairs connect the floors of the dungeon.
- Look out for devices—like triggers and traps—that have unknown effects on you and your party members.
- Don't be afraid to find out what happens when you step on one!
The floor plan of a dungeon is randomly created every time you enter, meaning you'll never take a trip through the same map twice! A map on the Touch Screen will automatically fill in as you explore each level, so you'll know when you've been down every path.

- then a wild Pokémon takes a step toward them to complete all the actions.
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, each move happens one step at a time. After you move one space or take a single action (such as attacking), all the other Pokémon will take their own actions in turn. If you don't move, nobody else will either, meaning you have all the time you need to think through your battle strategy.
- Choosing the right attack for each situation is important to winning battles.
- For example, Electric-type attacks will do extra damage against Flying-type Pokémon.
- At first, a move may not be particularly strong.
- The more you use it, the more a move will grow.
- At its highest level, a move does a lot more damage!
Each Pokémon can learn up to four moves. Each of these moves has specific power, type, and characteristics similar to attacks in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 (sold separately). Carefully consider which moves you and your team of Pokémon know to bring victory that much closer. Also, the more you use a move, the stronger it will get! And the benefit from powering up a move will be available to all the Pokémon who know that move.
- There are items that will help heal your Pokémon when they're hurt.
- Look for items that can be thrown at target Pokémon.
- Some items will even affect more than one Pokémon at once!
You'll find items scattered around dungeons everywhere you go. Many items can be used as weapons and will come in handy during battles. There are many valuable items to help you make your way through a dungeon.
- Spike traps do damage to Pokémon who stand on them.
- Traps may also cause status conditions to Pokémon.
Stay on the lookout for traps inside dungeons! Traps are unpredictable, but usually include ones that affect your stats, or send you flying across a floor. They're just one more way that each trip into a dungeon will be unique.
- Use the collective strengths of your Pokémon to unleash a huge joint attack!
- You must wait between times you use team attacks, so look for the right situation to unleash these moves.
Have several members of your team act as one with powerful team attacks. These team attacks are incredibly powerful, capable of dealing damage to multiple Pokémon at once, healing teammates, and more.
- Rampardos can help open Treasure Boxes that contain Team Skills.
- Team Skills may help you in interesting ways, such as telling you how many items are in a particular dungeon.
Look inside Treasure Boxes you've collected, and you might find Team Skills. Team Skills help you in a variety of ways when you explore, such as helping you to befriend more Pokémon or locate traps in a dungeon.
- You must first have the strength to knock out the Pokémon you're facing before it will ask to join you.
- The Pokémon who join you will attack enemies and help you in your adventure!
Sometimes when you defeat a Pokémon, it will ask to join your team. Recruit as many Pokémon as you can in this way so you can develop a personalized and powerful team!

- Start by meeting up with your friends at the entrance to Pokémon Paradise.
- Battle powerful enemy Pokémon in multiplayer mode, including Legendary Pokémon!
- The key to success is cooperation between you and your friends!
Join up with people nearby who are also playing Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity to explore and battle through dungeons together! Up to four people can play at a time. (Each player must have his or her own Nintendo 3DS system and copy of the game.) In this mode, you can play as a different Pokémon on your team.

- If you ever faint in a dungeon, activate StreetPass, and you might get rescued by another player.
- Leave a Reviver Seed in your Passerby Post, then pass by another player who has fainted in a dungeon to rescue that player.
- If you rescue someone, you will get a rare item for your efforts!
Sometimes a friend, or even you, may faint inside a dungeon from enemy attacks and harmful traps. But you might be able to exchange rescues using the StreetPass™ feature. If you place a Reviver Seed in your Passerby Post and walk by someone who has fainted in a dungeon, you will automatically save that player. Maybe someone else will rescue you the same way!
